(1). One original duly and completely filled Legalization Application Form

(2). Applicant's original valid passport and a photocopy of the passport information page or the original and a photocopy of other legal and valid ID. (If the application is for company or other organization, a photocopy of the passport or other legal and valid identity documents of the legal representative, and relevant documents which proves his or her legal status as the legal representative should be provided.)

(3). The original and one photocopy of the document that has been authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria.

(4). The application letter signed by the applicant shall include the applicant's name, passport or other valid ID number, purpose and use of legalization and other information. If an applicant entrusts an agent to submit the application on his/her behalf, the applicant shall issue a letter of authorization, including the agent's name, passport or other valid ID number in addition to the above information.

(5). If an applicant entrusts an agent to submit the application on his/her behalf, original and a photocopy of the agent’s passport or other legal and valid ID, and a photocopy of the applicant’s passport or other legal and valid ID should be provided.

(6). If an application is for commercial legalization, a photocopy of the company’s business license should be provided.

(7). The above-mentioned terms are general requirements. Consular officers may require, if necessary, the applicant to provide additional supporting documents in case of significant matters.  

Note: to ensure the integrity of documents, if the document for consular legalization application submitted by the applicant are two pages or more, it shall be bound by means of sealing wax, cross seal or steel seal which are not easy to be removed and replaced. The Chinese Embassy will not legalize a document if the document binding does not meet the requirements.
